About the role:

The Train Control Software Engineering Expert will design, analyse, develop, test and demonstrate TCMS system and software solutions that solve complex requirements. Provide cost and schedule estimates on complicated engineering programs. Provide technical expertise in support of other departments and less experienced engineering personnel.

Your Tasks:

- Review technical specifications, estimate costs and schedules, plan his/her own work of others, initiates and leads TCMS system and SW engineering programs.
- Mentor less experienced engineers while requiring little personal supervision, imparts technical expertise and experience to others, demonstrates a consistently high level of quality and personal integrity.
- Designs TCMS systems, SW and complex interfaces, gathers and analyses complicated technical data, solves system and SW level design problems, performs system and 3rd party component trade-off and coordination studies, creates novel design alternatives, develops reliability, safety and maintainability approaches, decides on optimum design approach.
- Tests, demonstrates and documents system and SW level designs, develops test procedures, leads design reviews internally and with customers, delegates works to subordinates.
- Provides technical expertise in support of Customer Service, Program Management, Manufacturing, Field Start-up, Operations and Maintenance Manual production and RMSH Engineering.
- Generates engineering reports, financial reports, status reports, ECN’s, D-Specs., technical proposals, patent disclosures and technical papers for publication. Performs cost analyses, evaluates and recommend components, devices and sub-contractors.
- Understands, interfaces with and influences the design of AWTS IMS and MPR systems. Maintains Design Manuals for designated cognizant topics.

Qualifications

- Bachelor or Master degree in electrical engineering
- 5-10 years relevant technical experience in rail, aerospace, automotive or industrial automation
- Experienced in SW development with multiple low-level and high-level programming languages, C/C++ required, IEC61131 appreciated
- Experienced in real-time control and human machine interface devices, real time network connected control systems
- Linux and QT knowledge
- Experienced in process simulation-based testing
- Project management and planning, program management appreciated
- Ability to work in international/ multi-site teams
- English language skills are a must, German language skills are highly desirable
- Availability to travel 10% of the time
