Job description:

As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

The Institute of Epidemiology mission is to understand the protective and harmful effects of genes, the environment and lifestyle on human health and disease using population-based epidemiology approaches. We focus on diabetes, lung diseases and allergy as well as cardiovascular diseases and mental health. We contribute to German Centers of Disease Research (DZD, DZL, DZHK, DZIF) and many national and international consortia. Our research builds on the population-based adult cohort KORA with its biobank facility and aerosol measurement station, the German National Cohort (GNC or NAKO Gesundheitsstudie) and the birth cohorts GiniPlus and LisaPlus.

Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m) - Epidemiology - NAKO German National Cohort

Job Description
- Epidemiological research on cardiovascular disease and healthy aging using German National Cohort and KORA Cohort data
- Establishment of procedures for data usage from the Augsburg study center in the German National Cohort for your own and the institutes research questions
- Supervision of master students and close interaction with data manager
- Close cooperation with other scientists within the institute and beyond

Your Qualifications
- PhD in Epidemiology or related subject
- Track record in cardiometabolic research and / or aging
- Profound statistical expertise including state-of-the-art methods
- Experience with meta-analysis and / or large complex data-sets
- Passion for epidemiological research in multidisciplinary teams
