The University of Duisburg-Essen invites applications for the following position at the Center of Medical Biotechnology (ZMB) and the Faculty of Biology. The position is available from 1st October 2018:

Tenure Track University Professorship (Salary grade W 1 BBesG) of “Mechanistic Cell Biology”

The successful candidate will be actively involved in basic research on molecular mechanisms in the fields of, but not limited to, regulation of proliferation and the cell cycle, protein homeostasis or chromatin biology of preferably mammalian cells. Candidates developing chemical perturbation approaches in combination with biochemical reconstitution or real-time imaging are particularly encouraged to apply. Ideally, candidates will be in the early stages of their post doctoral training. Applicants should complement and extend the existing strengths of the ZMB (https://www.uni-due.de/zmb/research/molecular-and-chemical-cell-biology.php ) and the Faculty of Biology (http://www.uni-due.de/biologie ).

We expect publications in the field of expertise in peer-reviewed and preferentially leading international journals. Experience in obtaining competitive third party funding, involvement in international research as well as relevant international experience are desirable. A qualification of leading scientific investigation would be beneficial.

According to §36 of the NRW Act (Institutions of Higher Learning) the requirements for this position are a university degree, doctorate, scientific work at a university, research institution, in industry or in another relevant area.
